This week was crazy!
So we spent the first half of it in Tucson. On Tuesday we had Mission Leadership Council and it was so good! I felt like all of the different trainings we had were things I personally needed to hear. I love that meeting. It is so great to come together with the different leaders in the mission and talk about plans and ideas to help the mission progress. I feel so blessed to be involved in this group.
The next day we had a Spanish conference. All of the Spanish missionaries in the mission came in to Tucson and we had a lot of different trainings about how to study Spanish more effectively, the culture, how Spanish work differs from English work, etc. There were 2 guys who have degrees in language acquisition and they talked a lot about the different ways to learn another language, what is most effective, etc. It was awesome! It made me miss serving in a Spanish area a lot! It was really fun to see all the different missionaries I have served with, and to meet the new Spanish missionaries! Me encanta espanol!
So since half of the week we were not in Silver City, the second half of the week was so busy! We had so many people to see and things to do. Every night I just collapsed in my bed and totally knocked out. It is so fulfilling though to be so busy!
On Friday we went knocking in an area that is called "mini Mexico" because it has a high population of Hispanic people. It was so much fun! We got to talk to a lot of people, run from a lot of dogs, have a lot of doors slammed in our faces, we even got proposed to. It was a blast. We a woman named Norma that used to visit with the missionaries but got sick and then lost contact. We are going to go visit her later today and are really excited to get to know her a little bit more.
On Saturday we did exchanges with the sisters from Deming. Hermana Ellis came here and we had a blast! One super cool thing that happened was in the morning, we got a call from an unknown number. I answered and the person on the other line asked in broken English "is this Hermana Lundquist?". Well it was Angel, the guy we had helped the elders teach in the Gila Valley! He was coming to silver city for the day and wanted to visit! We got to talk with him and some friends for a little bit. It was really great to see him and see that he is still doing really well!
We had a lesson later that day with Mari and had decided to read 3 Nephi 11 with her. That is the account in the Book of Mormon when Christ comes to visit the people. It was such a spiritual lesson. When we got to the part where Christ let each person come forward and touch his hands, she paused and said "Wait, he let all of them touch him!" and then she started tearing up. We were able to bear strong testimony of how Christ loves us all and how one day we will be able to meet him face to face. It was awesome.
Well, we are excited for this next week. It will be a busy one for sure but I know that we will have a lot of success! Have a good week!
Love,
Hermana Lundquist
