Well, it has been a roller coaster week for sure.
We had a zone meeting in Deming New Mexico which was a blast. We had it at a members beautiful home and the spirit was very strong. The missionaries that are ending their missions shared their "final testimonies" and it was incredible. I cannot believe how fast time goes. Especially since Hermana Magnusson was one of them! I feel like it was just yesterday that I got to Silver City with her.
We were able to do a ton of service this week! We finished painting the Hamilton's house (so much fun!) and we also helped set up for the ward Christmas party.
So Saturday night was transfer calls. All day I was super nervous, just wondering who my new companion would be, etc. We were sitting in the Christmas Party when President Passey called us. So we ran into the hallway and answered the phone. He jokingly told Hermana Magnusson that her new area would be Roseville California and that her new companion is unknown. He then told me that he felt inspired to send me to Tucson to the YSA 3rd ward at the University to serve with Hermana Hurst. We were both shocked. He continued on to tell us that 20 sisters are leaving the mission and that he had to put Elders in a lot of sisters areas because of the decrease. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. Such a big change. After we hung up with him, it was all I could do to not burst into tears. I was so not ready to leave Silver City. This past week I felt like I was really able to create a lot of stronger relationships with members in the ward. But I will go where the Lord would have me go. So we went home and started packing. It also snowed that night. It was a bittersweet moment.
So Sunday was a crazy day. We ran around visiting everyone we could and saying goodbye to them. There were a lot of tears, a lot of hugs, a lot of picture taking. I was able to really ponder on what I had learned in this area. It was a totally different type of work than I had ever done, but I loved it. I was able to learn how to love so many different kinds of people, and to really see how the work is so different everywhere you go. I will miss Silver City so much and it will forever have a place in my heart.
As Hermana Magnusson and I were driving to Tucson Monday night, were
just jamming out to Christmas music, munching on some cookies a member made us, talking about Silver City memories. All of the sudden Hermana Magnusson turned the music off and answered the phone in a very serious sounding tone. She then turned it to me and I saw that it was President Passey calling! He said that he had some more transfer news. There was a sister missionary in the MTC that had not been able to come out, so I actually was being transferred to South Tucson! Woohoo! I am so excited to be back here! I am in a Spanish branch again. The Sahuaro branch! My companion is Hermana Flake and she is a redhead too and I am so excited to be with her!
