Sick=time to ponder - Week 56

Well, it has been a pretty crazy week.

MondayTuesday, and Wednesday were pretty normal days. We had a lesson with Eulises on Tuesday and we decided to watch The Testaments to get him excited to start reading the Book of Mormon. At the very end, the words "Christ has come, and He will come again" are projected on the screen. When he read that, he turned to us and said excitedly "He is coming again?!?! I want to see Him!". Eulises has got to be one of the most spiritual 9 year olds I have ever met. He always listens so well when we teach and always seems to really get the spiritual message from things. His 16 year old brother also began talking with us about his plans to serve a mission after he graduates from high school. I love that family so much!

On Wednesday, we able to finally see Mari again. She has been sick for a while and also very busy with school, but was able to pull herself away for a little bit. We also watched The Testaments with her and she absolutely loved it and even started tearing up a little bit. Especially when Christ came to the Americas. Even though this movie is kind of cheesy, I love it so much!

Thanksgiving was... different! I pondered a lot on how the previous year I was in Mexico, just barely beginning my mission. This time, I have been out for over a year and am a totally different person. The things I am grateful for are still very similar, but for different reasons. I have learned the focus on the "why" of gratitude rather than the "what".  We were able to eat lunch and dinner with two different families and I was so grateful for them and their willingness to let us "crash their parties". We spent a lot of time delivering cookies we had baked to members to thank them for their love! We also spent some more time painting the Hamiltons house. We are determined to finish that this week,

Well, the weekend looked very promising, until I woke up Friday morning sick as a dog. I had felt it coming, but I had been hoping that it would stay mild enough for me to go out and work. So Friday, most of Saturday, and most of Sunday, we stayed in the apartment. And I absolutely HATED it. That whole time all I wanted to do was go out and visit people and do missionary work! But I don't think people would be very grateful if I came into their house, coughing and wheezing. I realized in those 3 long days a few things. 1.) Church movies are awesome 2.) Ruby Red Grapefruit juice is my friend and 3.) I absolutely love this work. Sometimes when it is going slower, it is rough to stay motivated and want to go out knocking on doors. But when it is taken away from you, it is awful! I am so grateful for the ability to be here serving these people.

We have a very busy week ahead of us! We will be in Tucson for half of the week. I am excited to learn from other missionaries and have a spiritual boost!

Have a great week and a good holiday season!

Love,
