Another pretty normal week! Just as beautiful as the rest - Week 67

So this week we had a doctor's appointment for Hermana Garcia's thumb (she broke it in the MTC). She had to fill out a lot of papers... that were all in English. So we spent about a half an hour in the waiting room as I tried to translate and she tried to remember all the information. It was fun. Got lots of weird looks as always, even though we are in Arizona and so many people speak Spanish, people still look at me like an alien when they hear me speaking it. It's fun(: So she got some more x-rays and we found out that she doesn't need surgery! Woohoo! They told us that her nail will fall off though. That's a bummer. When she found out she just said "awwwkward..." (I taught her that word last week. There is no Spanish equivalent, so explaining it was hard haha)

So we had a rougher week this week, but I learned alot about how Heavenly Father is always aware of us, and when we come to the edge of feeling like we can't go anymore, he helps us keep going.
On Thursday we had been focusing a lot on finding new investigators, trying to think of things other to do than just knock on doors all day. We hadn't had many lessons, and it was just rough. The day seemed to drag out forever and I was just so exhausted by the time we go to dinner. After dinner, we decided to go visit a less active member that we hadn't been able to have contact with for a long time. We found her at home and as we stated talking she said "Where have you been? How come you haven't come over?" That might seem like nothing, but to me it was incredible! When Hermana Flake and I would go visit her, we felt like she didn't really care if we came or not, that it wasn't important to her. But as Hermana Garcia and I talked to her, I saw that the break between visits had been what she needed. We have another appointment with her tonight and I am way excited(:

Teaching lessons is honestly like a healing balm for me. Whenever I feel down and out, we teach a lesson, feel the warmth of the spirit, and then I am pumped and excited again!

We also visited another less active member this week and helped her to decorate her house for valentines day! It was a blast. We sat down and had a lesson with her and right from the start she asked us if we could share some motivating, comforting scriptures with her. Her family has been having a hard time with health lately and lots of craziness and it has weighed down on her a lot. We shared some scriptures and the spirit was very strong. At the end, she told us how thankful she is for us and for the beautiful spirit that we always bring to her home. It is a really good moment when we see people recognize the spirit like that(:

I had a really cool experience this week. We had lunch with a family from the branch and a missionary that finished her mission about 1 1/2 ago was there. The cool thing was, I met her on the day I came in! She was leaving when I was coming and I went into the area she left. It was really cool to be able to talk with her, see how much her life has changed, talk about the work, etc. Lots of fun. She is really good friends with my trainer (Hermana Hale) so she took a picture and sent it to her. She told us all how after a year and a half, lots of things have changed, and that we need to always remember and treasure these moments. Amen to that.

I just wanted to share a story we heard in church on Sunday. So in a zoo there are two giant desert tortoises. They were known for always being together, always doing everything together, and people came from all around just to see those two tortoises. One day, one of them climbed up on a rock and as it tried to come down, it fell and rolled and landed on its back, so it couldn't move. The other tortoise looked at it, walked to one side of it, walked to the other, then put one claw up on the wall, and used the other to push it out a little, once it was far out enough, it used it's claws to flip the tortoise over. The gospel analogy with this was that if an animal can do that for another animal, imagine how beautiful what Christ did for us was? Just ponder on that.

I love you all! Have an incredible week! Remember how much I love you and how much your Heavenly Father and Savior love you. You aren't alone(:
