Fun Week! - Week 46

So a tropical storm that happened in Baja (or somewhere like that) rolled into the Gila Valley and we had ourselves a pretty nice storm this week! I was just loving it but Hermana Aleman isn't a big gloomy weather fan. I'm just a Washington kind of girl haha. We were driving down the highway when it hit really hard so we decided to pull off the road and wait it out. Then we had the brilliant idea to get out and dance around and take pictures. I was like a kid in a candy shop! Good thing we had brought an umbrella that day, but we still go soaked. Then it got sunny and I was the bummed one and Hermana Aleman was excited haha.

Tuesday was Mexican Independence Day, known as "El Grito". Our branch had a party and it was really fun! Lots of dancing though so Hermana Aleman and I awkwardly stood on the side and just smiled and clapped our hands. It was really great though because earlier that day we had gone around visiting some less actives, inviting them to the party. We went to see a sister and had a really good lesson with her and then invited her to come. She didn't sound like she was very interested, but when we got to the church, she had been there for a while, helping to set up. It was so good! She was able to talk with her home and visiting teachers and just feel the love of the branch. That is one thing our branch is really good at, making others visiting or who haven't been there in a while, feel love.

Another day we were driving way out to the middle of nowhere to have dinner with a member and on the way found road lined with sunflowers. Obviously a perfect photo op!

On Sunday a woman named Alicia visited the branch. She is the Aunt a recent convert in the YSA branch and only speaks Spanish. Relief Society just happened to be in English so I ended up translating for her. It was an incredible experience. I sat down next to her so worried about how the heck I was going to translate for an hour, so I just said a quick prayer in my heart and then it just poured out of me! I was able to remember all the words I needed to and she was able to understand me. The gift of tongues is real. Heavenly Father is so ready to bless us with what we need, as long as we are humble and faithful. So after relief society she started talking to us about our lives, about what we do as missionaries, and right before we left, she asked us to come over and teach her on Tuesday! Oh wow what a great day. Sundays really are miracle days haha.

Well, this is probably my last week in the Gila Valley. I am so bummed. I love it here so much! I mean, I have spent 1/3 of my mission here! The people are incredible, so loving, I have seen so many miracles here and have been so blessed and learned so much. I cant imagine myself anywhere else, but I am ready to take on a new adventure!

Love you all so much!
