This week has been incredible! So busy but so rewarding. It was the final week of the transfer and Hermana Hale and I just knew we needed to kick bum!
On Tuesday we had this thing called "the day" which is where every missionary in the mission goes on a transfer with someone else and we focus on a certain aspect of missionary work. Our topic was "invitations to learn", so basically any invitation whether it was "we invite you to check out this website" or "we invite you to read the book of Mormon and pray". I was with Sister Johnson who is the sister trainer leader in our zone and it was pretty nerve wracking at first, but she is so awesome. So sweet and understanding, but she made me work hard! We had a really successful day and were able to find some new potentials for Sister Hale and I.
On Wednesday we got to visit the temple in Gila Valley. Everyone was so stoked! We drove in our long missionary "fleet car" train of cars and you will never believe what happened... a highway patrol officer pulled four of us over... at once! We were all laughing so hard because everyone was just like what is happening? He just gave us a warning because we were driving to close together but he ended up being a member! He served his mission in Tallahassee! So we got really lucky. But it was an experience to remember for sure. All of us just kept looking through our windows at each other and shrugging as the officer walked from car to car.
Anywho, we finally got the temple and it is the smallest one I have ever been in, but so gorgeous. All the temple workers were so nice and kept getting so excited that there were so many of us. I just love the feeling of being in the temple. It is just totally quiet and peaceful and you just get time to sit and ponder questions you might have, or just sit and feel the happiness and peace. It was so incredible to be there with so many other missionaries. To all just be together in the house of the Lord as servants of the Lord. I loved it. We get to go every four months so we will be heading back in May! Hopefully close to my birthday haha
So for the rest of the week we just did tons of contacting and teaching. We were able to find this former investigator who is married to a member. She is such a sweet girl and we had such an amazing lesson about her fears of baptism. She has been taught by missionaries for the past three years, and I know that now is her time, she is ready to make that step in her life.
We also had our first investigator at church this week! It was so awesome! Hermana Hale and I were running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to find someone that would sit next to him, trying to talk to the president, it was crazy! We were so exhausted after church. But it was awesome and he really seemed to love it.
Then came Sunday night, the night of "calls". Hermana Hale and I were talking about how it happens. So basically starting at 8pm the Sunday night of the last week of the transfer, President Killpack and the assistants to the President start making called about transfers. If you get a call from President it either means you are going to be training a new missionary, or you are receiving a leadership position and if the assistants call you it just means that you are getting transferred. And if no one calls then you are staying! So it was about 8:20 and Hermana Hale and I were just joking about how no one was going to call us. She got up to get some water and halfway through a gulp the phone started ringing and she started freaking out... it was President. My heart dropped! She answered the phone and for about 5 minutes all I heard was "wow" "yes president" "wow" "okay president" "yes sir", and then right at the end she said "Yes she would like to know where she is going". Whaaaaaat?
So Hermana Hale was called as the new sister trainer leader and Hermana Johnson (the one I went on exchanges with) is coming up to Los Reales to be with her. I got transferred to the Sonora Branch... but guess what... I am still in the same district haha. My new area is that close to Los Reales! Literally a 10 minute drive! So it was a bummer for sure because Hermana Hale and I were all ready to wind up and have one more awesome transfer together, but this one is going to be just as awesome. My new companion is Hermana Hardy and she is such a sweetie! We already knew each other since she was in the only other sister companionship in our district so it is nice not to have to totally start from scratch. My new area is HUGE though! Way way bigger than Los Reales. Part of our area is right next to the University of Arizona, so being here is already making me miss school a little bit haha. But its a thriving college town so we are going to do wooooork! So I have been dumpstered, I am a dumpster baby, which basically means half way through my training I got a new trainer. So Hermana Hale is my momma and Hermana Hardy is my step-momma. It is sad to leave Los Reales, but I am excited to meet the people here in Sonora and grow and change and find the person that I am here for(:
Well that's about it! I love you all so much! Hope everything is going amazing! Cant wait to fill you in about my new area!
Love,
Hermana Lundquist
