Regardless of my being sick this week, I had some really amazing lessons.
- This week I was finally able to start feeling like I am able to be lead in Spanish. I was able to just forget that I don't know much and just bear testimony from my heart. We have started teaching other missionaries from our district each day. Elder Peterson and I switch off days teaching each other. I taught him the restoration lesson on Friday and it was absolutely amazing. I didn't need to look at my notes for a single minute. I was guided through the whole thing and was able to bear such a powerful testimony at the end that it scared me a little... in a good way though. Elder Peterson even teared up a little. That's when you know you've done good, when you can get an Elder to cry haha.
- Hermana Enniss and I have two "investigators" right now; Mauricio and Edgar. And this week we were able to get baptismal dates for both of them! Its such an amazing feeling when you say "seguira el ejemplo de JesuCristo, al ser bautizado, por alguien que posea la autoridad del sacerdocio de dios" and have them say "si". ITS AWESOME! Cant wait to hear those words come from a real investigator.
Thanksgiving in Mexico... not really any different than any normal day here. Obviously they don't celebrate it here. So we woke up and started on our day as usual, went to classes, taught our investigators, etc etc. Lunch was the only "thanksgiving" thing. The tables had cute little tablecloths and they had some semi-thanksgiving food haha. The turkey (which I didn't eat, no surprise there haha) had some sort of spicy sauce with it. They had something that looked like stuffing but my companion tasted it and it was salty so... I'm guessing it wasn't stuffing haha. The only thing I was really craving was mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie and they had both! So I was happy(: Then after lunch they day continued on as normal and at dinner the table cloths were gone and it was back to mystery meat. At first I really thought it would be rough thinking about how all the family is gathering together and I wouldn't be there... but I wrote in my journal, "I really am grateful for a lot and although I miss my family, I wouldn't choose to be in any place but here." And want to know something? I really mean that. Heavenly Father has blessed me so much through my life and I could never return the debt I owe him and Christ. So I am happy to be here serving and trying to pay back what part of that debt I can. I love this work so much and cant wait to see what other adventures it holds!
I found the coolest scripture this week! Well... Hermana Hurst showed it to me, but in 2nd Nephi 9:39, the last five words of the verse are " spiritually minded is life eternal". Take the first letters of each of those words and what does it spell? "SMILE". Pretty awesome right! That's one heck of a motivation!
Well I'm sorry to have such a dinky email today, but the days have just been flying by and all I can really think about is how stoked I am to enter the field!
Love you all so much!
