First Week - Week 17

This was my first week taking over the area and let me tell you, it was pretty scary haha. I was just so worried about finding my way around knowing who to visit when, etc etc. But the funny thing is, those feelings really only lasted until about the second day. Heavenly Father has an awesome way of helping his missionaries to remember things they didn't even think they knew. We just spent a lot of the time meeting people and helping Hermana Smyth get to know the area.

This week was probably one of the rougher weeks because both of us ended up with food poisoning over the weekend. But someway we still found time to go out and do work, and we had some really incredible lessons too. Even though were were physically exhausted, our spirits were still totally ready. It was awesome. We had a lesson with Sara that took a totally different road than we had planned but it was totally inspired. So this week we decided to do a lot more talking about temples with our active and less active members. The temple dedication was last Sunday so it was a perfect time to talk to them about it. So when we were going to Sara's we decided to talk to her about the Book of Mormon again. She hasn't been reading and we know that is what she needs to do to progress more and gain that testimony. We walked in and started talking and then her mom came out and started talking with us. I'm not sure if I ever talked about this, but her mom and Sara were together when the missionaries first contacted them. Her mom had still be taking lessons in Mexico and we were teaching Sara here. Well her mom just happened to be up visiting. We asked her how she was doing and she said not to good. She then went on to explain that her dad had recently died and how sad she was about that. Then Sara said "She doesn't know about the plan of salvation that is why she is sad." Both of our jaws just about dropped. We were so excited that she was thinking that way. Her mom had been taught the plan of salvation before but she obviously didn't understand it the right way.

We talked about the plan of salvation and the somehow the lesson got changed to temples. We talked about how families can be sealed and it was just incredible. We hope it was the spiritual experience Sara needed to really take things seriously!

Well this next week is going to be awesome! We are way stoked!

Love you all so much!
